Funded by a two year James Irvine Foundation grant to the San Luis Obispo Museum of Art, PROJECT ARTE is creating visual arts with Latino adults that represent their life stories. In 2016, SLOMA took PROJECT ARTE to People's Self Help Housing's Canyon Creek facility in Paso Robles. In 2017, PROJECT ARTE moved to People's Self Help Housing's River View facility in Guadalupe.

is SLOMA's facilitator of PROJECT ARTE. Art teachers are José Lemus and Adriana Lemus.

Latino participants in PROJECT ARTE have the opportunity to work alongside professional teaching artists, creating collective art projects that share their stories and challenges, celebrates their art-making through traveling exhibits both at unexpected and traditional places, and engages in social and political dialogues with the public at large.
